Troubleshooting Common Issues

"Could not locate followers or following JSON files"

This usually happens when you're uploading the wrong ZIP file. Instagram sometimes sends you a ZIP containing another ZIP. Make sure to:

  1. Extract the first ZIP file you downloaded
  2. Look for a file called something like "instagram_data.zip" inside
  3. Upload that inner ZIP file here

"Unexpected format in followers/following JSON"

Instagram occasionally changes their data export format. Try these solutions:

  • Make sure you've selected JSON format when requesting your data
  • Try downloading your data again from Instagram
  • Make sure you're using the most recent export (Instagram may have updated their format)

"Nothing happens when I click Analyze"

This might be due to a very large file or browser limitations. Try:

  • Using a different browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended)
  • Requesting only Followers and Following data to get a smaller file
  • Making sure your browser is up to date
